Who is the tour for?
The tours are geared for people interested in learning about the history of revolutionary violence in Slovenia during and shortly after World War II. Participants will visit some of the mass grave sites, former concentration camps, prisons, and women’s prisons mainly in Slovenia. Tours may also visit sites in Austria, Italy and Croatia, as well as sites of fascist, Nazi (National Socialist) and Slovene Home Guard violence. Since the history of revolutionary or communist Partisan violence is difficult to learn about on an ordinary tourist visit to Slovenia, our tours will focus on the violence committed by communists.
The tours are appropriate for historians, students, and anyone interested in learning about Slovenian history.
All sites will have professional speakers, including historians, archaeologists and writers. Additionally, several evenings will be devoted to listening to speakers.
